Board of Directors
HACL has a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is
the governing body and directs the management of the organization. It
is responsible to the members of the Association. Members of the Association
pay an annual membership fee and meet once a year at the Annual General
Meeting. The members of the Association elect boards yearly. The Board
is governed by the By-Laws of the Association. The members can only
change these By-laws at the Annual General Meeting with a majority vote.
The members of the Association must submit resolutions in writing one
month in advance of the AGM for consideration. The President of the
Board or an appointed representative of the Board automatically becomes
a member of the Board of Directors for the Nova Scotia Association for
Community Living. The Halifax Association Community Living can also
have an appointed representative on the Board for the Canadian Association
for Community Living; however, that representative must be elected at
the AGM of Nova Scotia ACL.
