HACL provides person centred support to individuals and families to help ensure they are living the lives they want in their community.
We provide information on available services and referrals to help people to live meaningful lives.
We offer workshops and specialized training for individuals, families and service providers.
We help people plan for the future and for transitions.
We also assist people with intellectual disabilities in navigating systems and processes.

📢Attention HACL Social Hangout is Tomorrow! 📢
Join us on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, from 6-8 pm at 3115 Veith Street for our Social Hangout. This week's program will feature show-and-tell presentations. Participants will have the opportunity to bring in something important to them and share their stories about it. This program allows participants to improve their presentation skills in front of groups and allows us to get to know them better, including their hobbies and interests. We look forward to seeing you there!

📢 Attention HACL Thursday Program is Tomorrow📢
Join us on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 6-8 pm at 3115 Veith Street for our Thursday program. This week's program will take us to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on the waterfront. Everyone will dive into the largest and oldest maritime museum and learn about Nova Scotia's rich maritime heritage. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic offers a unique experience to explore various elements of marine history, from boat building and World War convoys to the Halifax Explosion, as well as an exhibit on the Mi'kmaw indigenous people. HACL would like to thank the people at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic who graciously donated tickets to our program. So the participants can get the opportunity to learn about the history and heritage of the Maritimes.

During the walk, we will be gathering leaves, sticks, and rocks that we will use later to paint at Veith House. This program allows everyone to get outside, exercise, and come back to relax and paint.

The Halifax Association for Community Living would like to remind everyone of National Volunteer Week, which will take place from April 21-27, 2024. This week is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of volunteers in our community.
HACL is currently seeking volunteers to help with their programs. As a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, HACL relies on the support of volunteers to continue providing its services. Last night, we learned how to make our own homemade pizza!! Thanks to Lou pécou and their amazing donations of dough, sauce, toppings and all things pizza, our members learned how to make their own personal size pizza at home. With different toppings to try and a little creativity, everyone enjoyed their own personalized bite!! 👩🍳🧑🍳
