Our Programs

Inclusion Support Programming

HACL runs support programming for individuals living with a disability who are 18+. These programs, know as the HACL Social Meetups are sessions focused on creating connections with new peers as well as community connections.

Our Tuesday programming takes place within Veith House, where members will learn new skills, partake in fun activities and have time to meet new peers and socialize with friends new and old.

Our Thursday programming focuses on getting involved in the community. Whether we are out exploring all the the HRM has to offer, or helping support others in the community, HACL uses this time to show our members everything they can enjoy in the HRM.

All of our support programming is a great way to learn new things, connect with people who have similar experiences and build your community.

Halifax Developmental Centre for Early Learning

Through our Halifax Developmental Centre for Early Learning, we provide exceptional care for extraordinary children - and we believe that all children are extraordinary. We believe in total inclusion for all children, and our services reflect that.

At our integrated developmental program, children aged 18 months to 7 years (both children who are typically developing and those with disabilities or specialized needs) come together in an environment where the individual needs of each child are met. We have a wonderful toddler and preschool curriculum here at the centre.

Our safe and stimulating environment includes, a discovery and science room, a creative play room,  an art room, a soft play room, a dining room, and an outdoor play space. These learning centers promote development, self-worth, independence, creative expression, and fun!

TRansition support program

Our Transition Support Program offers wrap around, holistic, person centred support to people with developmental disabilities, and their families, as they experience life changes.

Through planning, advocacy, education, service navigation, resource referrals, and community partnerships, we assist people in making choices about their future and developing the tools and supports they need to reach their goals.

This program is open to anyone who feels like they could use this support. This includes people leaving the school system, entering post-secondary education, entering adult services (health, community services), moving into new housing, changing programs, joining the work force, or experiencing any other life events.
